Rachel Pinkett - Gone Home
6th June 2022

#44th Family
For once I bring very sad news. Our dear friend and Beaver Scout Leader Rachel passed away last week after a short illness. I took the decision not to inform you then so as not to cast a heavy shadow over the celebrations that so many of you have had fun at this last weekend. Celebrations that I know Rachel would have most certainly have enjoyed and been at the forefront of.
It’s impossible to count the young people Rachel has supported and guided through Scouting. She was also a very active member of her Church, looking after Sunday school and special events
Almost unique amongst Groups the Leadership team here do everything together. As such Rachel, although Beaver Leader would be an ever present on Cub, Scout, Explorer Camps, and Internationals as well as day trips and fundraisers and she was much loved by the Young People and Leaders alike.
February this year marked her 46 years in Scouting and she recently received the Silver Acorn for her extraordinary service in our Community. Well deserved.
A lot of people 46 years in a role might become set in their ways, that could never be said of Rachel, and she embraced new adventures to go on, new things to lead and new skills to inspire our young people.
Despite being ill Rachel continued to lead until March when sadly her health forced her to stop.
The family have set up a donation page to help them give her the send off she most definitely deserves. Please may I ask you to give any amount you can. Link HERE.
I cannot begin to describe how much we’ll all miss her, her devotion, her smile, her laughter, her humour but most of all her kindness.
