Oak Award for 44th Nottingham Scouts
5th December 2021

We often celebrate the achievements of our Young People, the challenges they face and how they overcome them. Or the activities and adventures they have had. None of those things though would be possible without our very dedicated Leadership+ Team; Rachel Pinkett, Jane Elizabeth Burton, Rebecca Jane Mills, Richard Bainbridge, Sophie Bainbridge, Phillip Willam Wright, Dave Corton, Amy Schofield, Amber Harker-Smith, Liam Hoyes, Dennis Whitlam, Neil Webster and Darren Mills.
So today it was great for the Leaders to be recognised with an award from Nottinghamshire County Scouts. The OAK AWARD, was presented for their ‘Togetherness’.
As a unit, the Leadership Team attend nearly every event together, with a strong bond of friendship and drive to give our Young People the best we can offer. On Beavers/Cubs/Scouts and Explorer activities - camps, day trips and party in the park, etc the full team is to be found chipping in. This is truly unusual in Scouting as sections in other Groups often do things independently of each other.
The District Commissioner mentioned he’d never seen a Leadership Team embody the ‘Togetherness of Scouting’ like the 44th’s. Only a few Leaders were able to be present at the ceremony. I’d liked to have seen all of them there as the award really IS for every one them.
44th Nottingham Leadership Team, Well Done, you are the beating heart of #44thfamily
