44th receives grant for new boiler

The 44^th Nottingham Scout Group were recently awarded with a £1,000 donation to help modernise their scout hall.

The funding, which will be used to buy a boiler for their hut on Lincoln Street, Basford, was provided by Persimmon Homes Nottingham, as part of its 'Community Champions' scheme.

Scout Leader, Steven , says the group were in desperate need of a new boiler for both heating and hot water. In normal circumstances, the Scouts would host stalls at local events to raise funds, but this is currently not possible.

Steven said: "Earlier this year, we chose to give a donation of our funds to Acer Court Care Home to help support days out for the elderly.

"Although the Scout Group needed the money, we felt it was important that our members understood that we can continue to work for what we need and it's important to give funds to those whose needs are greater."

Steven says the group are keen to get the Scout HQ fully-functional, with an efficient boiler and hot water for hand washing, so that they can be ready to welcome their members back and continue their work in the community.

Neil Follows, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, said: "It was a delight to receive an application from such a selfless bunch of young people.

"The Community Champions is all about supporting the communities where we are building, and we feel the 44^th Nottingham Scout Group is very much a deserving group to support."
